Uganda Hits 203 COVID-19 Cases As 45 Truck Drivers Test Positive

KAMPALA, UGANDA|SHIFTMEDIA| Uganda now has 203 confirmed cases of the COVID- 19 victims after the Friday tally of 43 truck drivers tested positive for Coronavirus.

Friday cases are the highest recorded in a single day since the pandemic was first reported in the country in March. The Ministry of Health in a message noted that out of these 43 cases, 17 were Ugandans, 11 Kenyans,  4 Eritreans, 5 Tanzanians,  and 2 Burundians.

28 (15 Ugandans, 9 Kenyans, and 4 Eritreans) entered through the Elegu border post, while the 6 entered through Mutukula included five Tanzanians and one Burundian national.

The Ministry of Health team also tested 8 truck drivers at Malaba who included 2 Ugandans, 5 Kenyans, and one Burundian.

Aceng said these were out of the total 1,838 samples were tested. All the 720 community samples tested negative.

So far no deaths has been registered from the virus, while 6 patients have fully recovered and discharged.
